Aisha Fahmy Palace Architecture and Design

Antonio Lasciac, famed architect, engineer, poet, and musician of Slovene heritage, designed Aisha Fahmi Palace in 1907 for Aisha's brother, Egyptian aristocrat Ali Fahmy. Aisha Fahmi Palace is designed in classical European style and built overlooking the Nile in Zamalek on a land area of 2700 m2.

The grandeur of Aisha Fahmi Palace is firmly planted alongside the Nile River's peaceful flow. Even though it is strategically located (on the main road with a connecting bridge nearby), entering the Aisha Fahmi Palace area is like entering a miracle because it is able to reduce all the hustle and bustle of the city and give different vibes like a comfortable residence and feels so calm because as soon as you enter you are greeted with a large yard with a beautifully landscaped garden, dancing trees in the fresh breeze, and the calm flow of a river.

Aisha Fahmy Palace Opening Hours

We chose to visit on March 28, 2022, as soon as we heard that Aisha Fahmi Palace was open. It is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and admission is free. You must bring an identity card or a passport for foreigners. After repeated restorations, the palace became the Center for the Arts in 1976, and it now serves as a site for visual arts exhibitions and creative events, with a national collection of works of art reserved exclusively for Egypt's greatest artists.

You can head straight to the underground art gallery and don't forget to take photos because every place has its unique beauty. You must line to enter it, and the number of people let in is limited for a period of time until they are finally rotated with other guests. This regulation is very good because it allows you to relax while viewing various works of art, particularly paintings, sculptures, and other art projects. You can watch Aisha Fahmi's painting and architecture exhibition on the chef x channel below, which we have compiled in its entirety especially for readers.

We quickly queued in front of Aisha Fahmi Palace's main door after leaving the art gallery, waiting patiently for our turn. The finely wrought iron glass door, as well as the statue directly over it, welcomes and shouts welcome. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a gigantic, bright glass painting directly front the antique staircase. There are spacious rooms on the right and left that are presently used as an art gallery.

Me and other visitors stood silently staring at the Aisha Fahmy Palace's walls, which were covered in original textile art and European oil paintings by many well-known artists, including Delacroix, Gauguin, Rodin, Renoir, Fernand Pelez, Henri Rondel, Guillaume Seignac, Charles-Emile Jacques, and others, all of whom were framed in green paint with a special formula colour.

The room on the right becomes a summer room with a lovely view of the Nile, while the room on the left, which was once a room for playing billiards and includes a fireplace, is now changed into a living room with Fahmy's father's name etched on the wood.

Antiques adorn the second floor, which also includes a fabled Japanese chamber with two Buddha statues.

Each room is stunning, with its own distinct personality, and is truly a hidden gem that will leave you speechless after we leave Aisha Fahmi's magnificent structure.

We sat in a garden with classical European characteristics, complete with chairs in the centre of which were many trees and leafy walls illuminated by faint yellow classical lighting. When you sit in the garden, the view directly to the main door of the Aisha Fahmi building doesn't make you want to learn about its history, but there is a tragedy behind the beauty of Aisha Fahmi Palace, which we will tell you about in part II: Story of the Black Rose
